Melbourne 1.x FAQ - Full Version
1. Who is Melbourne 1.x?
Melbourne 1.1 started out as the feeder clan and proving grounds for the elite Melbourne 1.0 war clan. Although the clans were managed with a common structure and analytics, 1.1 was historically a support system for 1.0. Over time, this structure became harder to manage and had unintended consequences in emphasising statistical performance at the expense of cultural fit.
Although the two clans were both highly successful, it is fair to say that the previous feeder structure leeched a lot of the fun and camaraderie from the game and was regularly disruptive to Melbourne 1.1’s growth, stability, and culture.
Melbourne 1.1 is now a fully independent sister clan in the Melbourne 1.x family and now operates as self-managed clan in charge of its own destiny. We will always maintain a strong alliance with 1.0, its members, and its leaders.
2. Can I join Melbourne 1.1?
We are currently recruiting TH7 to TH9s, with the following minimum requirements:
3. What are Melbourne 1.1’s core values?
We are a war clan that strives to balance both social and structural aspects of the game. Our values can be summarised as:
4. Does Melbourne 1.1 do trophy pushes?
No. We are a war clan of like-minded players. You are welcome to trophy push on your own.
5. What is the clan’s Member/Elder/Co-Leader policy?
Member status is probationary in nature and in effect for all new members until they complete 12 wars. At 3 wars per week, all new initiates will spend around a month on this status depending on their war participation rate. After completing 12 wars in compliance with the clan structure, the Leadership will vote to accept the member into full membership by granting Elder status, or the member will be dismissed.
Elders are seen to have successfully completed their probationary period and are seen as full members and the core strength of the clan. Elders are expected to help enforce the clan structure and values at all times, including evaluating new members for performance and cultural fit. Two elders in agreement is enough to accept a new applicant to the clan. The Elder title is a status symbol of respect to be taken seriously by all clan members.
In special exceptions, Leadership may vote to to reduce the Member probationary period to no less than 3 wars.
Elders demoted to Member status are subsequently to be considered to be back in the probationary period, subject to the successful completion of a new 12 war probationary period.
Elder status is specific to Melbourne 1.1 and is not transferrable to any other clans in the Melbourne 1.x family.
Co-leadership status is by invitation only at the sole discretion of the leadership team. There should not be an assumed progression path from Elder status to co-leadership. We have a team of 5 voting co-leaders, and a small number of non-voting co-leaders who fully participate in all deliberations. Major clan decisions are made by a simple majority of the five voting co-leaders.
The current voting leadership team is:
The non-voting co-leadership team is:
6. What is the minimum donation ratio?
Leadership does not police donation ratios, but one should never abuse the generosity of their clanmates.
7. Can I request DE troops for farming?
No. DE troops should only be requested and donated for war as DE troops are unnecessary for farming. This allows all players to put their DE into hero upgrades which improves individual and collective war results. All members are expected to keep this policy in effect at all times.
8. Can I join Melbourne 1.0?
Melbourne 1.0 and 1.1 are separate clans in a strong familial alliance. Each clan has its own membership policies. Membership transfers between clans are at the sole discretion of the leadership and subject to the leadership policies of each clan.
On occasion, Elders and 1.1 Leadership may war with 1.0 upon approval from 1.0 Leadership. Visits are restricted to Elders and Leadership only, for 2-3 wars maximum, and not taking multiple villages.
On occasion, 1.0 members can war with 1.1 upon approval from 1.1 Leadership.
9. Does Melbourne 1.1 use mods/bots?
Melbourne 1.1 Leadership does not endorse nor prohibit the use of third party programs, as we view this to be an individual decision to be made by adults willing to accept the consequences of their choices. Leadership encourages all members to follow the Terms of Service at all times. Out of respect to Supercell and all clan members, discussions about mods will not be tolerated in any clan chat. If any members have been proven to use mods or bots, they will be summarily dismissed from the clan.
10. Can I bring my mini into the clan?
Members and Elders are limited to one village in the clan, minimum TH7. Leadership may employ multiple villages to help provide balance in wars. Members and Elders may be granted temporary permission for a second village in the clan depends on need and TH distribution.
Clan War Questions
11. What is the Melbourne 1.1 clan war structure?
For all unassigned attacks, the players can choose their targets within the following guidelines:
12. What is the Melbourne 1.1 war strategy to manage town hall level participation in wars?
Our experience shows that many wars are won or lost at the selection table, and maintaining a proper war structure is paramount to increasing the odds of success. We strive to implement a proper bell curve town hall distribution to ensure the matchup algorithm matches us fairly with other clans.
Generally speaking we look to have a small and equal number of TH7 and TH10 with the rest of the bases being predominantly TH8 and TH9.
We firmly believe that having a rushed TH10 in war severely limits the odds of success in wars, as the entire clan pays that penalty twice: once in a tougher war matchup, and then again in final score because the rusher cannot close enemy targets of equal war weight. Rushed TH10 are fatal to a clan and will be scrutinised with extreme prejudice. TH9s that rush to TH10 may be asked to sit out of wars or leave the clan.
Leadership reserves the right to limit TH10 participation in all wars to ensure a proper bell curve is maintained. Currently, there is a FIVE to SIX TH10 base cap per war, regardless of the size of the war. If a TH10 is proactively sat out in one war due to rationing, they are guaranteed a place in the next war.
13. Can I war with my hero down?
It is the players’ responsibility to keep their hero up/down status updated at all times in clash.tools.
14. How often am I expected to participate in war?
We strive for balance in all aspects of the game, and as a war clan we encourage all members to war as they are able. Generally speaking, over time we expect all members to participate in at least half of the clan wars. Members falling below this mark without a valid reason may be demoted to probationary Member status or asked to find a more casual clan.
15. What are some “cardinal sins” of Melbourne 1.1 wars?
The following actions are viewed with extreme negative prejudice and can immediately lead to demotion or dismissal:
The following trends over time are a cause for grave concern by leadership that can lead to demotion or dismissal:
16. Can I make a farming attack for loot in war?
If no suitable targets are available to gain stars, Leadership may grant permission to hit for practice or farming. Leadership will make it clear in game if/when farming is allowed.
17. Can I trade my assigned target with another player?
Yes, if both players agree to the swap. Leadership does not need to approve target swaps, although the players should notify Leadership as clash.tools will need to be updated.

3. What are Melbourne 1.1’s core values?
We are a war clan that strives to balance both social and structural aspects of the game. Our values can be summarised as:
- First and foremost, we strive to keep the game fun by maintaining balance between a proper clan structure and a good cultural fit amongst like-minded players.
- We value continuous learning and improvement over time. We value players willing to put in the effort to pay their dues and in learning how to maximise success in the game. Players are encouraged to watch attack videos and discuss attack strategies to foster an environment of learning and improvement.
- We value mature, friendly, team-focused players. We typically look for players 18 years old and older, but exceptions are made to this for younger players that conduct themselves with maturity in an adult-oriented environment. Conversely, exclusions are made for adults that behave like children.
- We value adherence to the war plan and good decision making amongst all members.
- We value fair and respectful treatment of all clanmates at all times.
- Racist behaviour is never tolerated.
- Overtly sexist behaviour (including the “c-word”) is never tolerated as we do have female clan members and they should be valued and allowed to play in a non-threatening environment. This word should be avoided, even as slang vernacular for those steeped in the Queen’s English.
- Leadership is not the morality police---swearing is fine, but swearing at clanmates is not showing the proper amount of respect and will not be tolerated.
- Melbourne 1.1 is a meritocracy: may the best idea win.

Clan War Questions
11. What is the Melbourne 1.1 clan war structure?
- Goal: We strive to close all TH10s with two or three stars, and all TH9 and below with three stars.
- We war 3x per week starting between 5-6am Melbourne time (GMT +10), with one day off per week on Thursdays.
- Players need to be able to close targets of their equal town level and strength. TH7, TH8, and TH9 need to be well versed in three star attacks which close enemy bases.
- We use the clash.tools website to track player profiles, hero status, and targeting. It is the player’s responsibility to keep their profile updated. Players will not be allowed into war until they have completed a proper profile registration on clash.tools.
- The 24 hour war session is broken down into two periods:
- First 12 hours: Initially assigned targets should be hit. Initial target reservations last 12 hours before expiry.
- Last 12 hours: Players book their own cleanup targets using clash.tools. Cleanup reservations last for 2 hours before expiry.
- All targets must be assigned or reserved using clash.tools before being hit. As targets expire, the enemy base goes back into the pool of eligible targets and can be claimed by another player.
- If an assigned base has been attacked by its original owner but not closed, it is immediately eligible to be reserved, cleaned up and closed by another attacker. There is no need to wait for the 12 hour mark to reserve and attack an open base that has been already attacked by its rightful owner.
- Players should immediately post their results after attacking (to trigger the cleanup and reservation process) and also check targets on the site before attacking.
- The clash.tools site is the source of truth for all targeting. Any targeting disputes will be settled by the information in the clash.tools logs.
For all unassigned attacks, the players can choose their targets within the following guidelines:
- Attacking another player’s assigned or reserved target is target poaching and will not be tolerated. Target poaching is grounds for demotion or dismissal.
- Choosing appropriate targets for unassigned attacks is the responsibility of the player. Experience shows that selecting a base slightly lower than the originally assigned target maximises the odds of closing the base. Any clean up attack on a base that does not close the target is a wasted attack as no new info is gained from the attack and more attacks will need to be spent to close the base. Target selection and execution of clean up attacks to close enemy bases is a major key to victory, and both will be monitored closely. Repeated failure to select and execute proper clean up attacks over time is considered grounds for demotion or dismissal.
- If you need help in selecting an unassigned target, please ask an Elder or Leader in clan chat, but the responsibility for choosing targets and executing attacks always falls on the player (unless the target is assigned by Leadership.)
12. What is the Melbourne 1.1 war strategy to manage town hall level participation in wars?

13. Can I war with my hero down?
- TH10: any hero down is an automatic sit out, no exceptions.
- TH9: AQ down is an automatic sit out. Limited exceptions for BK down may be granted by Leadership.
- TH8 and TH7: judgement call by the player and/or leadership at the time the war is started.
It is the players’ responsibility to keep their hero up/down status updated at all times in clash.tools.
14. How often am I expected to participate in war?

- Not selecting appropriate targets for unassigned attacks.
- Failing to close targets of equal TH level and war weight.

- Not following all aspects of the clan war structure and/or encouraging others to do the same.
